Newborn Session FAQ
How old should my baby be for the photo shoot?
Between 5 - 10 days old is the best time to work with baby. At this age, they sleep most of the time which allows me to get those adorable poses.
Do I need to bring anything to the session?
No. I provide all props, outfits, wraps, blankets, etc. If someone has knitted a special sweater, or made a quilt that you would like used in a photo, feel free to bring that along! Also, please bring your own personal things for baby - diapers, wipes, bottles, etc. If you purchase a cute outfit for the photo shoot, please send me a photo of it before hand, so I can make sure I have corresponding backgrounds/set up for that outfit.
Where is the photo shoot done?
Newborn sessions are done in my home in Whitby. I have a heated studio with lots of backdrops, pillows, blankets, wraps, baskets, buckets, and outfits for you to chose from.
Do you incorporate siblings, Mom and Dad in photos?
Yes. Cuddle time with Mom and Dad are important to capture. I also love getting older siblings in on the action.
What should I wear?
I normally recommend that Moms be comfortable and match Dad. White tops are nice to have a softer look.. Grey's seem to look the best. I like to avoid bright colors, as baby's skin tones tend to be orange or red and bright colors on Mom or Dad will make the skin tone differences between them more obvious.
How long are the sessions?
I book for 2 hours, but sometimes they can go longer. I have to account for changing, feeding time and crying. If baby co-operates, we should be able to finish in 2 hours, but if they need longer then I have no problem taking extra time to make sure we get what we need.
This is actually not a question that I get, but I like to reassure parents that your baby's safety is my number one priority. I will never risk your baby's well being for a photo, nor will I compromise his/her comfort to get a photo.
